Being here was going to ruin his reputation, he was sure of it.

Levi had always been the “thug” of the school, as it were. He might’ve been short, but he was damn strong and damn intimidating. No one really wanted to mess with him, which he greatly appreciated. The last thing he wanted was to be approached by a bunch of assholes he wanted nothing to do with.

But… the bad part about repelling so many people was that you were among them. You too were too frightened of him to want to talk to him – even when you needed to you’d simply walk up to him, see him notice you, then run away. It was disheartening, especially considering you were the one person he actually wanted to approach him.

Despite that, Levi was always distant from others, he never went to parties or did anything with anyone outside of school – it gave him that mysterious sort of aura that people were intimidated by.

But that just had to fucking change, didn’t it? He just had to accompany his little sister to a damn party with the idiots of her grade.

There wasn’t supposed to be any alcohol or sex at this party, but after stepping through the door he already saw those rules being broken. It was gross. Why would Mikasa even hang out with horny under-aged alcoholics like this anyway?

He didn’t want his fifteen-year-old sister hanging around with people like this, but he didn’t want to supervise her the whole damned night as if he was her bodyguard either. So he simply made his way to the corner of the room and folded his arms over his chest, waiting for something, anything interesting to happen.

Instead all he got was a bunch of drunk kids making out on the couch. He recoiled in disgust and turned his head away from it. “God, what is it with kids now? It’s disgusting,” he murmured to himself.

“Yeah, it’s kinda gross. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my brother.”

Levi’s eyes widened before he turned around to see none other than you, casually leaning on the surface of the wall near him. You seemed a lot less timid now; perhaps you had a bit of alcohol in your system? Didn’t matter – for whatever reason you were talking to him, and he had to force down the blush rising to his cheeks.

The conversation it led to was rather pleasing for him, but you didn’t get very far before your bratty little brother decided he wanted to drag you away to meet his friends. You’d think someone would try to avoid their sibling throughout a party, not actively include them.

But as you were gone Levi made it his goal to impress you. You talking to him was a huge step in the right direction, and your relationship could only blossom from here. Hopefully tonight he’d be able to step out of that awkward admire-from-a-distance stage.

Over the course of the night Levi had been bending over backwards to try and get you to notice him, but it didn’t matter what the fuck he did you’d always offer a less-than-satisfactory response. It was starting to tick him off.

Not even mopping the floor with everyone at Beer Pong had managed to capture your attention. All you did was smile and clap a bit – that wasn’t what he wanted! You were supposed to swoon and fawn over how cool he was before begging him to date you, but this? This was all you gave him? Damn, winning your love was going to be a lot harder than he originally thought.

But the night wore on, and people were starting to calm down a little – mostly because they were getting too drunk to stand. Bunch of fucking lightweights, all of them.

A particular male party-goer had been harassing you practically the entire night – and it wasn’t Levi, no. It was some damned sixteen-year-old who kept trying to get into your pants, despite your evident disinterest in him. It was revolting. Levi was just about ready to break his damn jaw off.

You went to go take a breath of fresh air by yourself a few minutes ago, and since then Levi had been side-eyeing the asshole who was all too happy about your absent. He’d been talking with a few of his friends at the time, and Levi couldn’t possibly feel more sceptical about it. What the fuck was he up to?

The four of them got up from their spots and left the house, leaving Levi far too irked to simply leave well enough alone.

He tailed them as they made their way to your location to do god-knows-what. He never trusted drunken adolescent men; they’d always do something reckless and harmful. Then again, perhaps that was just drunk men in general.

You were typing away at your phone when they approached you. The voice of the main perpetrator of your misfortune rung through your ears.

“Hey, [First],” he began. “I’ve been feelin’ like you’re tryin’ to avoid me. Mind tellin’ me what the fuck’s up with that? I’ve been nice to ya and this is the thanks I get, eh?”

You groaned and looked away. “I said I’m not interested. Leave me alone.”

“What the fuck? What’s your deal, huh, bitch? You should give a chance before actin’ like this.”

“I don’t owe you shit. I’m not interested, and you can’t force me into giving you a chance when I don’t want to. Leave me alone.”

This seemed to really piss him off. He tapped the shoulder of one of his friends that accompanied him, and all three of them seemed to turn hostile. Had they been planning this?

Levi’s voice sounded from behind the group. “The fuck are you brats up to?” he called, effectively gaining their attention.

They turned to face him fully, and though a bit startled at who it was threatening them, they still maintained their aggressive demeanours. Their attention was entirely on him, now.

“What’s it to you? We’re just tryin’ to have a bit of fun,” the man retorted.

“Dude, that’s Levi Ackerman,” one of the more reluctant companions whined. “I don’t wanna--”

Instead of finishing his sentence, a ragged grunt escaped the mouth of the talking individual. He held the back of his head, where the pain had come from, before collapsing to the ground – seemingly unconscious.

The others turned around to see you with your fists up and your leg out in front of you. You had just kicked their friend so hard he lost consciousness. They stared at you with wide eyes for a moment – Levi included – but you took advantage of their dazed states and brought your leg up once more to deliver a rough kick to the stomach of one of the other attempted harassers.

He stumbled and fell backwards, and then you spun on your heel and swung your arm in a crescent motion, your clenched fist making contact with the side of another boy’s face.
The leader – and the cause of this whole debacle – tried to approach you from behind to restrain you, but your reflexes were far too fast for him, and you ended up delving your elbow into his abdomen so hard he coughed up spit.

When it was all done, you were stood between the bodies of four boys. Four immature and dangerous boys who probably wouldn’t have stopped at physical assault. As a black belt, you had the upper-hand the entire time, and they just didn’t know it. You didn’t feel guilty for beating their sorry asses, even though they clearly had no idea how to fight. They got what was coming to them.

Levi couldn’t deny, he was extremely turned on right now.

You stepped over their bodies and made your way back to the house, as if you hadn’t just been the victim of attempted assault.

You paused when you passed Levi by. “You were willing to take the fall for me back there, huh?”

Snapping out of his astonishment he looked over at you. “Well, I was, but you just beat the living shit out of them.”

You nodded your head. “Cool, cool.”

There was an awkward silence between the two of you for a while, and during this time Levi realised something. For whatever reason, you’d put on this sweet, innocent, scared little façade at school – it almost left him wondering why. But regardless, he wasn’t the nonchalant, badass thug of the school. You were.

You pulled out a small notebook from your handbag and scribbled your number on it before ripping out the page and handing it over to him. “You should call me sometime.” And with that, you simply made your way back to the party without speaking another word to him.
Levi stared down at your number then back up at where you once stood.

He had no idea what the fuck just happened back there – but he was so into it.
