Being the girlfriend of a murderous thug was definitely not something you had been expecting from your life. You would’ve thought your first relationship would be something romantic, involving the clichés like flowers, chocolates, romantic dates, and long walks on the beach. If someone had told you that this would be your first relationship, not something cute or dreamy, but this, you probably would’ve cried.

You loved Levi, good gods did you love him, but he couldn’t grasp the concept of romance even if you smacked him over the head with it.

You let him stay with you for one night, one night after he saved you from being harassed by a slovenly hooligan in an alleyway. But that had quickly blossomed into a loving relationship.

Shit, who the fuck were you fooling? It was mostly just sex. Many long nights of hot and heavy sex. But the love was in there, too. Somewhere. After all, you were his girlfriend, that had to count for something, right?

Over the course of time, Levi had arisen from the lowly title of a mooching street rat to becoming the leader of his own gang which he had simply dubbed “the Legion”. You called him out on his totally uncreative bullshit and ended up in a four hour long discussion with him on how everyone and their mother was using “legion” as a dramatic nickname for something or other. He didn’t care much, though, and instead silenced you the same way he always did – by fucking you until you were too goddamn exhausted to care anymore. You hated that about him, but you also loved it.

One of the things you knew you most definitely detested was how your brand new house had been his favourite place to hang out after committing a crime. He would always trek bloody footprints on your clean floors or drop off some gang members you didn’t even know before rushing off again.

You were currently lying on your bed, reciting your trifles to your exceptionally understanding long-distance friend over the phone.

“And do you know what he did last week? He showed up on my doorstep and asked me to help him hide a corpse! A corpse!” you fumed. You were so livid just thinking about it you felt like your face had caught fire.

“Shit, I’ve been there, corpses are hard to hide.” Came the voice from the other side of the line.

“Wait, what?”

“Uh, nothing.”

Just when you had been about to interrogate her further you heard a violent knocking at your door. You knew just by the way it sounded that it was Levi. “Ugh, that’s him. I gotta go. Talk to you later, Kiro.”

“Good luck with that corpse!”

You hung up the phone and tossed it to the side before trudging through your home. A migraine quickly nestled itself in your head at how obnoxiously loud Levi was banging on your door.

You flung it open to reveal none other than your degenerate boyfriend along with his buddy, Erwin, and some stranger with a busted lip you’ve never seen before. Erwin gave you a friendly smile, which had greatly contrasted how much evident pain and anguish this third person had been in. It almost unnerved you how cool and calm he always seemed to be.

“Morning, [First],” greeted Erwin. Levi paid no mind to pleasantries and simply shoved his way through the entrance with the other man slung over his shoulders.

“Uh, yeah, come in and stuff…” you mumbled under your breath, your words riddled with bitter sarcasm.

You closed the door behind Erwin and decided to put the kettle on for them. Meanwhile you were going to take a big swig of vodka – that’s the only thing that’d be able to get you through this, anyhow.

Walking back to the lounge room – where they always seemed to gather – you caught sight of the stranger being bent over the glass coffee table your father bought for a house-warming gift. You folded your arms over your chest and listened in on the conversation, hoping that maybe whatever they talked about would clear things up.

“Where’s Nile?” demanded Levi. You had no idea who the fuck Nile was, but you had a slight hunch that maybe the Legion didn’t like him.

“Go to hell,” the man hissed before spitting in Levi’s face.

He wiped the spit off with his sleeve before saying, “That wasn’t very nice.” He yanked the rival thug back before smashing him right through the glass sheet, wrecking your beautiful table.

“Levi!” you shrieked. “That was from my dad!”

“Then tell your dad I’ll pay him back.”

You gritted your teeth and bottled up the rage inside you that was threatening to spill out. Levi would make it up to you, he always did.

But it had been only two minutes later when he put a gun to the thug’s head and shot him, not only leaving a corpse in your house, but staining your pristine white carpet, too. “Levi!

“It’ll wash out.” And that was all he said on the matter before turning and discussing issues with Erwin.

You left the room to grab the cleaning supplies Levi would need to mop up the mess he made. How dare he kill a man in your home and damage your belongings? Your father would be so ashamed, seeing you now. The little innocent girl who he raised to be kind and accepting was now traipsing about with a killer. And not only that, but she had been involved in multiple crimes. If he knew about any of this, he’d arrest you. You knew that. He was a cop; it was his job to keep the peace. But it’d also break his heart.

Entering the area once more, you glared daggers at Levi while holding the carpet cleaner and broom in your hands. Turning to Erwin, Levi stated, “You mind doing this by yourself? I’ve gotta do some house cleaning.”

“No problem. See you later, [First].”

“Bye, Erwin,” you ground out.

While Levi did clean up his mess and order a new table for you, he also stuck you with the responsibility of disposing the body. You were mad, furious, sick with anger. You couldn’t believe the shit that you put up with. The fact that you actually had a skill for hiding evidence in places no one will look showed just how much Levi would make you do this. You shouldn’t have this skill! No one should have this skill! But you had done it so many times that you were practically a master at covering your tracks, better than what Levi and any of his gang-bangers could do.

Just as you entered the house ready to bark at him until his ears bled, he grabbed you by the shoulders and pinned you against the wall. Oh, no. He had that glisten in his eyes again. You could tell what he was after.

You moved your head to the side and allowed him to kiss a trail up the length of your neck, earning a pleasant sigh from you.

He pressed his lips to the shell of your ear, “I’m sorry I broke your table,” he said huskily. “I’ll make it up to you…”

You found it increasingly difficult to be angry at him because of just how skilfully he was fondling you. He knew every nook and cranny of your body; he knew exactly what to touch and how to touch it to make you feel good. You’d always end up flustered and breathless at the end of it all, and you hated it.

When you swallowed your moans and refused to give him the satisfaction of your voice he paused what he was doing. “Hm? Did I make you mad?”

“Yes.”

“Will you let me… thoroughly apologise?” He made it painfully obvious on what his intentions were when he slipped a finger into your panties.

“I don’t know… you’re going to have to work really hard for my forgiveness.”

“Hm, I suppose I should get started, then.”

The next few hours were – of course – accompanied with exhausting and slightly awkward sex. Damn, Levi had been starting to get creative when it came to your sexual endeavours. You didn’t even know that your body could bend that way before he tried it.

After the whole ordeal you slept for what felt like days but was likely only a couple hours. However long it was, you still managed to wake up before Levi did – which you saw as a blessing.

It was always the same, this relationship.

He’d always do something that no good person should ever do, drag you into it, then apologise in a way that was mutually beneficial. Quite frankly, you were sick of it.

You took the time to drag your ass out of bed and slip a robe over your shoulders before heading out the room and towards the kitchen.

You ran a hand down your face as you leaned back onto the kitchen counter and sighed. Levi meant the world to you, but this… thing that you had with him just went way too far way too often.

Pouring yourself a cup of coffee, you wondered if you should even say anything at all. After all, he was a murderer, and a gang leader, would he really leave you alone if you decided to break it off? Would you have your own life to fear?

No, you couldn’t let yourself think like that. Levi would never do something that cruel and sick to you.

You carefully sipped at your coffee while you thought on what exactly you were going to say to him. Not even fifteen minutes later you heard his approaching footsteps and let your eyes drift shut. You felt your body quaking with nervousness as his footsteps got louder.

“Ah, you’re already awake?” Damn it. Hearing his voice made you feel like you were about to stumble.

Wasting no time in getting to the point, you quickly blurted out, “I don’t think we should see each other anymore.”

He didn’t say anything in return, which made you anxious. You slowly opened your eyes to just see him standing there and looking at you, as if he were trying to let your words sink in.

After a few minutes of awkward silence, he finally responded, “What the fuck? Why?”

“What do you mean why? The first few weeks of our relationship might’ve been fine, but everything else until then hasn’t! Y-you make me hide corpses for you, Levi, corpses! What kind of relationship is that? Wh-why do you keep expecting me to get involved in all these criminal activities with you? I don’t want to do this anymore, Levi. I’m ending this. Now. Please get your things and get out.”

Levi looked as if you’d just shot him in the back – and to be honest, that was probably how he was feeling, too. He didn’t know how to take any of this. He had been with you for so long he couldn’t rightly see a future without you. You were with him when he started to rise up the food chain, and now here he was, the boss of a well-known and feared gang – a journey he wouldn’t have been able to make without you.

But now you were leaving – or rather, forcing him to leave – and he’d be going through the rest of it alone.

Could he blame you, though? Not really. People died, here, in your house, and sometimes you struggled to sleep because of it, knowing that multiple people’s lives ended right in your living room. You were terrified of what wrath this might bring down upon you, and despite Levi’s constant reassurance that it was on his head, it still gave you night terrors.

He almost felt as if he wanted to cry, a feeling that was usually unknown to him, but he swallowed his sadness and nodded solemnly. “Right. I get it. I’ll go pack my things.”

Within the hour Levi had all his possessions packed away into a suitcase. You didn’t even look him in the eyes before he left – which cut him deep. But nonetheless, he left your home – what he once called his – and made his way through life feeling just that little bit emptier.
